Resolution Introduced to Expel George Santos from Congress

Democrats in the House of Representatives have filed a resolution to expel George Santos from Congress due to his long list of lies that got him elected in the first place. The resolution is led by Democratic Congressman Robert Garcia. Nearly 8 in 10 of Santos’ New York constituents want him to step down, but the disgraced congressman remains defiant and has vowed to fight on. While Republicans currently control the House of Representatives, there are some Republicans who are also disgusted with Santos, and it is not out of the question that Democrats could find enough Republicans to get rid of him. However, there doesn’t appear to be much of an appetite by Speaker Kevin McCarthy and House leadership to oust him, especially since Republicans are operating with such a razor-thin majority to begin with. The best case scenario is this resolution is successful and Santos leaves Congress, and the worst case scenario is that Republicans look foolish by getting in the way of that.
