The House could be looking at a Government shutdown should no short-term funding bill be passed. Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, is trying to find a compromise to keep the government open beyond September 30th. In the case of a government shutdown, no money can go out to anything considered "non-essential." Some things that can be stopped include national parks, national health research, etc.
