Donald Trump’s two endorsees in Pennsylvania, Mehmet Oz and Doug Mastriano, are both losing to their Democratic challengers in the first round of polling. In the Senate race, John Fetterman is beating Dr. Oz 46% to 37%, with 13% undecided in the poll conducted by Suffolk University. In the governor’s race, Josh Shapiro is leading Mastriano by a smaller amount, 44% to 40% with 13% undecided. There’s a few different ways to look at these early polling results: On the one hand, it’s a positive that the Democrats are winning. But on the other, having 13% undecided in both races suggests they could really go either way. Pennsylvania is a blue state but it will occasionally elect Republicans, as it did by voting for Trump in the 2016 presidential election. These will be key races for Democrats to pick up if they have any hope of having a strong midterm performance.
