Donald Trump’s social media platform Truth Social is reportedly censoring anti-Trump posts related to the January 6th Capitol riots. Users were speaking their minds about the congressional hearings and it led to some posts getting taken down and accounts getting suspended. Jack Cocchiarella said on Twitter, “I was suspended from Truth Social for posting about the January 6th hearing last night. Donald Trump is scared of free speech.” Travis Allen wrote, “my Truth Social account was just permanently suspended for talking about the January 6th Committee hearings.” And Joseph said, “just put out my first post on Truth social and they deleted it. Real freedom of speech champs there.” Truth Social has every right to censor certain social media posts they don’t like, just like any other social media platform does. However, Truth was supposed to be a place for free speech and the open exchange of ideas and in reality, it’s just become a pro-Trump right-wing echo chamber.
