Donald Trump’s lead in the 2024 Republican primary continues to grow and he is now back to having a commanding lead over Ron DeSantis. A recent Emerson poll shows Trump leading DeSantis by 30 points, 55% to 25%, compared to a 26-point lead in January. The poll also found that Trump gets 72% support among Republicans with a high school degree or less and that Trump is ahead of Biden 46% to 42%, while DeSantis trails Biden. Other polls, including one by Echelon Insights and a Fox News poll, show Trump's lead over DeSantis widening by 13 and 15 points, respectively. It should be noted however, that Trump tends to perform better in the polls when other candidates are included, whereas the gap between Trump and DeSantis is much smaller when it’s presented as a head-to-head race. Nevertheless, the latest evidence shows that Trump has a commanding lead in the early days of the 2024 Republican primary.
