The Georiga Senate runoff election is less than a week away and in this crucial time, Republicans are not letting Donald Trump anywhere near Georgia and Herschel Walker. Trump has been blamed for costing Republicans the Senate two years ago when he campaigned for the Republican candidates ahead of the Georgia runoffs and questioned whether people’s votes would even count. The party doesn’t want to see a repeat of that and so they want the former president to remain in Florida. Instead, Trump will play a limited role in the campaign by doing phone calls and sending fundraising emails. This story is more interesting because of what it means for 2024 than what it means for 2022. If Trump can’t be trusted to boost Republican voter turnout when he’s not even the candidate, how is he going to be able to do so as the GOP’s nominee for president?
