Donald Trump has now taken the lead over Joe Biden in a hypothetical 2024 presidential matchup. A new poll from Emerson College shows Trump leading Biden 44% to 41%, but it also has 14% of respondents saying they’re not in either camp yet, with 10% saying they would support someone else and 4% being undecided. Other polls have different results in a hypothetical Trump vs. Biden or DeSantis vs. Biden face-off. So far, Trump is the only person out of the three who has announced his candidacy. The groundwork is set for a contentious primary race on the Republican side between Trump and DeSantis. And if Biden chooses not to run, there could also be a bunch of people running on the Democratic side. The truth is that the 2024 election is a long way away, and these early polls do very little to help predict who is going to be the next president of the United States.
