Former President Donald Trump has a new spokesperson named Liz Harrington. Harrington replaced Jason Miller, who stepped down last week after lying on Trump’s behalf for years. Now it is Harrington’s turn to fill that role and she has experience in the field, formerly serving as the spokesperson for the Republican National Committee. Harrington's other big qualification for the role is that she supported a whole bunch of lies surrounding the 2020 election, including that President Biden's strong performance in some Democratic counties was indicative of election fraud. Harrington said in her announcement as Trump’s new spokeswoman that, “at such a critical time for our country, President Trump’s fighting spirit is needed now more than ever. We will not stand idly by and let America fall to the radical left-wing mob.” Trump welcomed Harrington aboard by calling her a “fighter” and “an important part of our receiving more votes than any incumbent president in US history, far more than we received the first time we won.”
Recently, Harrington went on Jenna Ellis’s show “Just the Truth” on the network Real America’s Voice. Ellis was one of the lawyers parading around the country with Rudy Giuliani in an attempt to prove voter fraud and get state legislatures to overturn election results. Harrington argued a number of dumb points during her appearance, including that Joe Biden isn’t really running the government and that the Justice Department was corrupt for not interfering on Trump’s behalf in the election. But even crazier, she called the January 6th Capitol riots “a peaceful protest” with all sincerity. Harrington went on to say, “[police] opened the doors to the Capitol . . . it’s not an easy building to get into, when you know there’s that many people, they opened the doors and they walked through.” This is complete and total revisionist history. While there were certainly some non-violent Trump supporters at the riot, and some police officers were cooperative, that does not take away from the Trump supporters who were breaking in through the windows, beating up cops, rummaging through offices, and attempting to kidnap and kill members of Congress. It’s comments like these that made Harrington an obvious pick to become Trump’s new spokesperson; they seem like a perfect match.
