Republicans are not satisfied with the far-right Supreme Court overturning Roe vs. Wade last month, and they’ve now moved on to trying to abolish same-sex marriage. Senator Ted Cruz said much on his podcast “Verdict,” claiming, “Obergefell [v. Hodges] ignored two centuries of our nation’s history. Marriage was always an issue that was left to the states. . . . I think that decision was wrong when it was decided. It was the court overreaching.” This same logic could be applied to interracial marriage. If some Republicans got their way, people of different ethnic backgrounds would not be able to marry today in many states around the country. This should be a wake-up call for every tolerant person in the country to vote these Republicans out of office in 2022.
