Republicans are turning on Donald Trump after the massive red wave they predicted for the 2022 midterms didn’t happen. Many right-wingers have been quick to point out that so many of Trump’s hand-picked election-denier candidates lost while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis overperformed expectations with a nearly 20-point victory over Charlie Crist. One user on Twitter wrote, “Trump’s big November 15 announcement should be an endorsement of Ron DeSantis for president in 2024. We can do better.” A writer at National Review posted to Twitter, “The one guy he attacked before Election Day was DeSantis — the clear winner, meanwhile, all his guys are s---ing the bed.” Trump has never been weaker within Republican circles and the timing couldn’t be worse for him since he’s expecting to launch his 2024 campaign next week.
