In the recent election, the Right used lies and dog-whistle messaging to win votes. 

In Virginia, Glenn Youngkin used these tactics to win the Governor’s race.   He called for auditing 2020 voting machines, reinforcing Trump's “Big Lie." ​He vowed to reverse a mask mandate for schools. And, playing to bigotry and fear, he demonized the teaching of so-called critical race theory. 

Misinformation about public education, our health, and our elections is poisoning honest debates in our local communities, and conversations around our dinner tables. If you hear a friend or family member perpetuate dangerous falsehoods, please speak up.  

As we race toward the '22 midterms and the 2024 presidential election, rightwing lies and cultural wedge issues will only accelerate. It's up to us to take back the conversation now.
