Freshman Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna's claim that "taxation is theft" during a Fox Business interview is a popular sentiment among conservatives and libertarians, but it is not a logical statement. Taxation is a voluntary action by citizens who can work or not work and choose to live in a different country with a different tax system. Additionally, citizens can lobby for elected officials who share their views on taxation. It is also worth noting that Luna's salary is paid with tax dollars, suggesting that she either willingly accepts "stolen money" or does not truly believe that taxation is theft.
