Republican Congressman Ralph Norman from South Carolina utterly humiliated himself when asking during testimony whether the witnesses support “post-birth abortions.” As a way to demonize the left, the right has been arguing that Democrats support abortion after birth, which is, of course, not abortion — murder. Norman asked, “do you agree with infanticide?” One of the witnesses accurately pointed out, “well, I think you are using inflammatory language to describe a situation that does not happen basically. We do not have infanticide happening. Doctors would not do that.” Norman tried to follow up by asking if a healthy child was born and whether the mother could decide to kill the baby. Of course, the answer is no, but by asking this question, the congressman is trying to convey to his constituents that this is happening in the country and that Democrats are responsible for it.
