New evidence obtained by Alex Holder’s documentary footage of the January 6th attack has prompted the committee to postpone the televised hearings pending further review. The decision to postpone the hearings was not taken lightly by the committee. Ratings show that at least 20 million Americans watched the first night of primetime hearings, with an additional 11 million Americans watching the first session of daytime hearings. This indicates that the new evidence they’ve obtained is so overwhelming that it warrants such a delay. Rep. Bennie Thompson, who chairs the committee, describes the footage as “important,” but did not elaborate further. However, we expect that the forthcoming revelations will be significant given the risk involved in delaying the hearings. The evidence could possibly lead to new leads, witnesses, and perhaps even indictments.
