Yesterday was primary day in a number of states and one of the major headlines was that Congressman Madison Cawthorn lost his Republican primary race to Chuck Edwards. Madison tweeted as the results were coming in, “congratulations to @ChuckEdwards4NC on securing the nomination tonight. It’s time for the NC-11 GOP to rally behind the Republican ticket to defeat the Democrats’ nominee this November.” This is a major loss on Trump’s endorsement record and a victory for a wide swath of people, both left and right, who wanted to oust Cawthorn from office. Another key race was the Republican primary for the US Senate race in Pennsylvania. The race is still too close to call and will likely go to a recount. Current results with 96% of ballots reported have Dr. Mehmet Oz in first place with 31.3% of the vote, Dave McCormick in second place with 31.1%, and Kathy Barnette in third with 24.8%. On the Democratic side, John Fetterman easily picked up the nomination, besting Conor Lamb, 59.0% to 26.4%.
