It is October which means it is about time for Fox News to pretend there is a “War on Christmas” being waged by the left wing in America. Fox decided to kick off their coverage of the “War on Christmas” this year by tying in the nation’s top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci. When asked about the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic on CBS’s “Face the Nation” and whether people should “gather for Christmas,” Fauci took a wait-and-see approach. He said, “it’s just too soon to tell. We’ve just got to concentrate on continuing to get those numbers down and not try to jump ahead by weeks or months and say what we’re going to do at a particular time.” What followed was a bunch of Fox News commentators attacking Fauci like Jason Rantz who said, “to tell me that it’s not safe to visit your family for Christmas, to say that now in October, indicates this isn’t really about public health at this point.” Of course, that’s not what Fauci said and Rantz is doing his best to skew the doctor’s comments. Kennedy on “The Five” took issue with Fauci for talking about Christmas before we’ve even celebrated Halloween and Thanksgiving, but left out the important context that he didn’t come up with the question — he was simply asked it. Fox News sounds incredibly desperate here, but by leaving out important context, they’re able to work Fauci’s reasonable comments right into their “War on Christmas” agenda.
