Florida Republicans have passed a bill banning diversity programs in colleges and preventing teachers and students from being required to use pronouns that don't correspond to someone's sex. The bill expands the “Don't Say Gay” law, prohibiting classroom instruction on gender identity and sexual orientation up to the eighth grade and strengthening the system to challenge school books. Critics argue the bill is discriminatory to the transgender community and impractical to enforce since teachers cannot know a student's gender by looking at them or using their birth certificates. The ban on diversity programs has also raised concerns about limiting inclusivity and understanding among different cultures and communities. Additionally, there are worries that the Republicans will go after LGBT teachers next. This is not only morally wrong but it’s also likely a strategic mistake for the right, as they do not have the voters on their side when it comes to these issues.
