Conservative media figures argue Disney's influence on children's sexuality

Conservative media figures are arguing that Disney is trying to make kids gay. This is the latest cultural flashpoint in right-wing circles, and it stems from a leaked conference call with officials at the Walt Disney Company. Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA said, “why else would you want to have two dudes or women kissing in a Disney film? What is the plan? To expose them to it or to increase the ranks of the LGBTQ community?” Newsmax host Greg Kelly compared being gay to an inappropriate hobby to talk about in most circles. Kelly said, “I love trains. I love them. I don’t talk a lot about them on TV because it’s a pretty niche hobby, and not many people are into it, alright?” What Disney is trying to accomplish with its content is to represent the real world. Many kids with LGBT parents or who are LGBT themselves, and having that portrayed in Disney movies and TV shows is crucial to making these kids feel normal and accepted.
