Another mass shooting took place over the long weekend, with seven people getting killed at a parade event in Highland Park, Illinois. Republicans are workshopping how to respond to this tragedy since after the elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas they said that too many doors were the problem. Now because this shooting took place outside, and the perpetrator used a ladder to get onto the rooftop of a business to carry out the attack, perhaps they will move on to ladders as the culprit. Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli of the Lake County Sheriff’s Department said in a press conference after the shooting, “it looks like access to the roof via a ladder in an alley was insecure.” Right-wingers will likely focus their attention on things like securing all ladders in alleyways, so long as it means they don’t have to come out in support of basic gun safety measures.
