On January 22, the US Supreme Court decided that Texas lacks the authority to prevent federal agents from removing razor wire placed along the Rio Grande. Nevertheless, Texas proceeded to add further razor wire at the border, with Governor Abbott citing Article 1, section 10, clause 3 of the US Constitution, asserting the state's right to self-defense in the face of perceived invasion.
