The possibility of violence in response to Donald Trump's arrest and indictment in connection with the Stormy Daniels hush money payment has become a growing concern. Trump himself has called for protests, stoking fears that he will once again incite his supporters to take violent action. While peaceful protests are legal, there is a real danger that Trump will use his influence to turn them into violent clashes, as he did on January 6, 2021. Even if Trump's supporters do show up at the Manhattan courthouse where he would turn himself in, there are deterrents that may discourage them, such as the high costs of protesting in Manhattan, including expensive bridge tolls and parking fees. However, this does not mean that the threat of violence has been eliminated. Trump's supporters may choose to demonstrate at other locations, such as Mar-a-Lago or Washington D.C., or there may be scattered pockets of unrest and protests across the country. The fact remains that Trump's actions have created a dangerous and volatile situation, and any violence that may occur as a result will be solely his responsibility.
