The United Nations' removal of Russia from the Human Rights Council was highly anticipated and much needed. In order for Russia to be removed, the UN needed two-thirds of the votes to be in favor of this decision. There are 193 members in the assembly. Russia is no longer a part of the council with 58 abstentions, 24 votes against the removal, and 93 votes in favor of the removal.
