In response to the home invasion of Paul Pelosi, the new Twitter owner Elon Musk retweeted out fake news about the attack. The source of the tweet was the Santa Monica Observer, a publication that previously reported that Hillary Clinton died before the 2016 election and a body double was debating Donald Trump. This tweet in question baselessly asserted that the home invader was Paul Pelosi’s lover. Along with the link to the story, Musk wrote, “There is a tiny possibility there might be more to this story than meets the eye.” Elon deleted the tweet once it became evident that the story was fake news. If the new owner of Twitter can be duped because of the site’s new relaxed censorship guidelines, there’s no telling what kind of cesspool it will turn into for the general public.
