Fox News host Tucker Carlson had fellow right-wing commentator Jesse Kelly on his program last Friday and the pair complained about the United States military supposedly not being “manly enough.” This is part of the right’s attempt to make every aspect of American life a part of the culture war they so desperately want to focus on. Kelly said, “we don’t need a military that’s women-friendly, we don’t need a military that’s gay-friendly, with all due respect to the Air Force. We need a military that’s flat-out hostile. We need a military full of type A men who want to sit on a throne of Chinese skulls. But we don’t have that now.”
In typical fashion, Tucker nodded along as his guest went on this bizarre rant that managed to wrap up misogamy, homophobia, and Chinese xenophobia all into one. It’s a total myth that US military is suffering and unable to win battles because it’s comprised of too many people who aren’t straight and male. Folks like Carlson and Kelly claim as though the left are obsessed with these issues of “wokeness” yet it’s them who can’t stop covering these stories and build up a boogeyman that doesn’t exist.
