Donald Trump was interviewed this week by Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo and he managed to involve himself in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Trump took credit for the weapons Ukraine is using to fight off the Russian invasion. He said, “I think [Russia’s] in much deeper than they thought. To a certain extent because of the weapons that I gave and that the Ukrainians use so well, I mean they use so well, amazing.”
In fact, Trump got impeached the first time for trying to withhold aid from Ukraine and extorting President Zelensky to get dirt on Joe Biden. Trump supporters have also been making the argument that Vladimir Putin didn’t invade Ukraine under Trump’s watch because he feared what the then-American president would do. In reality, if Putin invaded, Trump would have just looked the other way and sided with the Russian president as he did on so many other topics like the Kremlin’s interference in the 2016 election.
