Donald Trump thought that he could sue Congress for impeaching him. The revelations come from Maggie Haberman’s book Confidence Man, where she recounts Trump saying “I’ll just sue Congress. They can’t do this to me.” Unclear from this reporting is whether the former president thought he could sue the US Congress as an institution or if he would be suing its individual members. This shouldn’t be a shock for anyone who has been following the trials and tribulations of Donald Trump. He has been extremely litigious throughout his life and has always turned to the threat of suing people. The ex-president also never had a grasp of how the United States government works and that Congress has every right to impeach a president.
