Donald Trump spent the weekend doing phone interviews with Fox & Friends and Wayne Allyn Root. During the Fox appearance, Trump was asked about Maggie Haberman’s story that he flushed sensitive documents down the White House toilet. The ex-POTUS responded, “it’s a totally false story, she made it up. I don’t believe they have sources. Who’s going to be a source for that anyway? Who would know that? There’s no source. They make it up.” Of course, the answer to Trump’s question would be White House staffers who get called up to unclog the toilet.
During the Wayne Allyn Root appearance, Trump was asked whether he’d be open to Congress electing him Speaker if Republicans take back control of the House in 2022. He said in a jumbled response, “I hope we don’t need it. Because what should happen is the plan we’re on now and I think a plan that’s going to make people very very happy we’ll be announcing some time later and that’s really what should happen.” It’s not totally clear what Trump meant to say here, but the implication was that he has no interest in becoming House Speaker because he plans on running for president again in 2024.
