Donald Trump's purge begins as he fires impeachment witnesses Lt. Col Alexander Vindman and Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland. This can't be seen as anything but an authoritarian move. When Vindman testified he was asked if he was a "never Trumper." He replied that he was "never partisan." Yet, by giving his testimony, he was considered disloyal by Trump. So Trump had him escorted out of the White House by security guards when he showed up for work. For Sondland's ouster, he was told by the State Department that he had to resign that day. He refused, and was fired.
