Donald Trump was deposed this morning in New York Attorney General Attorney General’s investigation into his businesses and alleged financial crimes. James believes Trump to have engaged in over-valuating his assets when applying for loans and under-valuating them when having to pay taxes. During the deposition, Trump refused to answer any questions by the New York AG, continually pleading the Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination. Trump said in a statement afterwards, “I once asked, ‘if you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?’ Now I know the answer to that question.” Trump also called James “racist” and called the probe a “witch hunt” ahead of the deposition. With the walls closing in on Trump, this is just one more headache the disgraced former president has to deal with.
