Donald Trump wants the full unredacted affidavit that led to the search warrant for his Mar-a-Lago home to be released to the public. Trump believes the information coming out will vindicate him, or that if there’s a refusal to release it, it will make the investigation look like a partisan witch hunt. However, the judge in the case, Bruce Reinhart, is calling Trump’s bluff, and is seemingly open to releasing the affidavit with redactions given the public interest in the matter. The Trump team wants the entire thing released without redactions, since as we know they have no respect for keeping sensitive information secret and protecting the identities of people. The request could end up backfiring tremendously on the former president, as it could end up providing the public with more evidence that he mishandled classified documents. It could also debunk Trump’s claim that he had a good relationship with DOJ and FBI officials and was cooperating fully with the probe. Trump would probably be better served to keep his mouth shut and let the investigation run its course, however he’s proven himself incapable over the years of being able to do that.
