The Future of the COVID-19 Pandemic

This summer it has seemed that everyone was catching the COVID-19 virus, including people who had stayed safe from it for more than 2 years, respecting lockdowns and quarantines, getting vaccinated, and wearing masks. The Omicron variants of the virus have proved to be particularly contagious even if less lethal.

In spite of this, life appears to have resumed in the U.S. with people traveling, working, and readying for the start of school.

Is the COVID-19 pandemic over? Will there be a universal vaccine developed, or seasonal vaccines like the flu-vaccine? What about the new looming health emergency known as the Monkeypox virus?

 

 Rising Up with Sonali is a radio and television show that brings progressive news coverage rooted in gender and racial justice to a wide audience. Rising Up With Sonali was built on the foundation of Sonali Kolhatkar's earlier show, Uprising, which became the longest-running drive-time radio show on KPFK in Los Angeles hosted by a woman.
