A new poll from The New York Times and Siena College shows that nearly half of Republican voters are ready to abandon Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential race. Trump has especially lost support among Republican voters under 35, 64% of whom want someone different, and college-educated Republicans who are ready to leave Trump at a rate of 65%. The reasons cited for the trend are the damaging January 6th hearings along with the desire for new faces to lead the party like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Trump must be absolutely furious with these poll results as he expects a clear path to the Republican nomination if he chooses to run again in 2024. All signs are now pointing to him not getting that and DeSantis giving him a run for his money for control of the party.
