The red state of Kansas voted to keep abortion legal in the wake of states having more leeway to make their own rules on the topic, with Roe vs. Wade recently getting overturned. The public rejected a constitutional amendment that would have allowed the state legislature to do anything to make abortion completely illegal. President Biden said about the victory, “This vote makes clear what we know: the majority of Americans agree that women should have access to abortion and should have the right to make their own health care decisions.” The fact that the pro-choice side won in the deeply conservative state of Kansas shows that in this election cycle, running on abortion rights may be the correct course of action for Democrats.
