President Donald Trump, seeing his rising unpopularity, has repeatedly and relentlessly attacked the right to vote, telling his supporters to vote twice, claiming that states sending mail-in ballots to voters who have not requested them amounts to voter fraud, and even going as far as refusing to commit to a peaceful transfer of power.
He has threatened to unleash federal lawyers to stop the counting of ballots on election night and told his supporters that his loss automatically means that Democrats have cheated and stolen the election.
The U.S. stands on the precipice of a constitutional crisis so large that some have worried it signals the beginning of a second civil war.
