Tucker Carlson has been facing a great deal of criticism over the past few days since the Great Replacement Theory he often talks about was one of the motivating factors for a gunman killing ten people at a grocery store in Buffalo over the weekend. Last night on his program, Tucker tried to distance himself along with Fox News from the Buffalo shooter as much as he could. He said the manifesto the shooter wrote “is not recognizably left-wing or right-wing. It’s not really political at all.” This statement is completely untrue as the document overlaps with the viewpoints that Tucker routinely espouses on his show. Tucker went on to write off the shooter as mentally ill and suggested that was all that was needed to explain why he committed the attack. However, the overwhelming majority of mentally ill people would never commit such a heinous act and obviously, there are more compounding factors as to why the shooter did what he did. One of those factors is that he bought into the same Great Replacement Theory talking points that Tucker Carlson believes in and that’s why Tucker is rightfully taking some heat.
