Ann Northrop and Andy Humm of Gay USA comment on a new and fascinating study on transgender identity.

Researchers from the University of Washington found that trans children show a preference for gender stereotyped preferences, of the gender they identify, as much as cis-gender children.

Participants in the study ranged from 3 years of age to 12. They had all transitioned pronouns and in some cases, first names. They were asked questions about toys, clothes, and friends. "The transgender children showed, on average, strong preferences and behaviors associated with their current gender, just as the cisgender children with whom they were compared."
