During a recent CNN town hall, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin was asked by a transgender student which bathroom they should use in schools. Governor Youngkin's response was evasive, suggesting that parents and children should be involved in the decision-making process and that schools should invest more in gender-neutral bathrooms. However, this answer failed to provide a clear solution to the issue at hand, as the student would be most comfortable using the restroom that matches with their gender identity. Moreover, the idea of converting thousands of bathrooms to gender-neutral would be costly and impractical, given that schools face a lack of funding for basic supplies. Youngkin's inability to offer a substantive answer to this question demonstrates the need for practical solutions and clear policies that promote inclusion and equity.
