How Mitch McConnell Endangers Election Integrity

Sonali Kolhatkar speaks with Max Moran about Mitch McConnell. In the wake of the November 3rd 2020, election, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is doing what he does best: obstruct, break norms and ruthlessly play a game of politics that is best summarized as “do as I say, not as I do.” Four years ago, McConnell wasted no time in congratulating President elect Donald Trump even before the official vote counts in states were tallied. Today, he has decided that media outlets like AP who do the careful math to project a winner accurately are not the arbiters of the electoral college and so the nation must wait until President Trump has mounted his baseless legal challenges.

McConnell has also played politics with the Covid-19 economic relief package, waiting until after the election to see how he could use the outcome to his ends. Now, in delaying the transition process to a Biden White House, he is using his leverage to determine Biden’s cabinet appointments.
