Marjorie Taylor Greene is at it again with her “hot takes” and this time it’s the claim that Democrats from blue states shouldn’t be able to immediately vote when they move to conservative regions of the country. The congresswoman said it would be “wise” to have a temporary “cooling off period” for these liberal folks who change their residences. This refers to the narrative that people have been leaving progressive states like California over the past couple of years to go to states like Texas and Florida, potentially bringing their liberal ideals with them.
Greene said on Twitter, “after Democrat voters and big donors ruin a state like California, you would think it wise to stop them from doing it to another great state like Florida. Brainwashed people that move from CA and NY really need a cooling off period.” This goes completely against the US Constitution and the ideal of freedom of movement in this country. When it benefits them, people like Marjorie Taylor Greene will claim to be in full support of these values, but when it doesn’t, they quickly flip on a dime.
