Democrats performed well in yesterday’s 2022 midterm races across the country, tarnishing the right’s hope of a red-wave election. Votes are still being counted, and it’s uncertain who will be in control of Congress at the start of 2023, however, it’s shaping up to be a Republican-controlled House and a Democratic-controlled Senate. In Pennsylvania, John Fetterman (D) defeated Mehmet Oz (R) and Josh Shapiro (D) easily defeated Doug Mastriano (R). The Georgia Senate race will go to a runoff next month, however, Raphael Warnock (D) is poised to take the first round of voting over Herschel Walker (R). In Wisconsin, Tony Evers (D) was reelected governor with the Senate race going to Ron Johnson (R) over Mandela Barnes (D). In Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer (D) was reelected over challenger Tudor Dixon (R). Other key races too close to call include the gubernatorial election in Arizona and the Senate elections in Arizona and Nevada. While the data is still pouring in, the message was a clear repudiation of Donald Trump and election denialism.
