LAST GASPS: Trump's Truth Social Banned from Google Play Store

The troubles continue for Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform with the latest being it has been barred from Google Play over content moderation concerns. The Android version of the app was “ready and waiting” according to Truth Social CEO Devin Nunes. But then a spokesperson for Google said, “on August 19 we notified Truth Social of several violations of standard policies in their current app submission and reiterated that having effective systems for moderating user-generated content is a condition of our terms of service for any app to go live on Google Play.” Truth Social has marketed itself as the free speech alternative to sites like Twitter and Facebook, which was never actually true because they can moderate content that’s critical of Trump and the website itself. But now it turns out that whatever little content moderation they have isn’t enough to get them on one of the two major app stores.
