After being cancelled due to COVID-19, LA Pride resurrected the march in order to support Black Lives Matter. However, the original organizers were criticized for working with cops to seek a permit, and ask for their participation. They also invited corporate sponsors for the event. After, the backlash, Black Lives Matter activists have taken over the organizing without permits, police involvement, or corporations.
