The death toll in Gaza continues to rise as the besieged civilian population pays the ultimate price in this war. Gaza, often referred to as the world’s largest open air prison, was already struggling as a result of a 14 year-long blockade that has caused dire shortages. Meanwhile, 330 members of Congress, including 125 Democrats, have said that the US should continue to give $3.8 billion annually in military aid to Israel regardless of human rights abuses and mass killings. Jewish Voice for Peace is one of the many groups calling for an end to this unconditional support. They are supporting HR 2590, The Palestinian Children and Families Act that places conditions on US aid to Israel. It seeks to protect the human rights of Palestinian children living under Israeli military occupation.
