For the past week, the right has been going berserk over a video of Joe Biden giving a speech and supposedly looking confused and trying to shake hands with an invisible person. Conservatives have been pointing to this as evidence that Joe Biden has dementia and is unfit to serve as president, but if you watch the video, you’ll see that there is a crowd off-screen. Biden is just making a gesture toward them and then turning around to recognize other people in the audience. If there was an actual case of Biden looking confused or trying to shake hands with thin air, then, of course, it would be fair to ask questions about whether the president is cognitively impaired. However, this clearly is not it, and right-wingers pushing this as evidence are mainly just operating in bad faith.
