The White House Correspondents’ Dinner took place over the weekend after a few years' hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. President Biden showed off his comedic stylings, including a joke about Fox News personalities being vaccinated. He said, “everyone had to prove they’re fully vaccinated and boosted. So if you’re at home watching this and wondering how to do that, just contact your favorite Fox News reporter. They’re all here, vaccinated and boosted, all of them.” Biden went on to deliver a line referencing how Donald Trump wouldn’t show up at the dinner during his tenure. He said, “this is the first time a president attended this dinner in six years. It’s understandable; we had a horrible plague, followed by two years of COVID.” The president also poked fun at how Fox News propagandist Sean Hannity took his marching orders from Trump’s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. While the White House Correspondents’ Dinner gets a lot of scrutiny for being an opportunity for the press and the government to rub elbows, at least it provided Biden with a chance to show off his sense of humor and show his likable side.
