Donald Trump's FCC slowed down your internet, with Trump on the way out, and Ajit Pai leaving the Federal Communications Commission, can Net Neutrality return?
Net Neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers (ISPs) must treat all Internet communications equally. Donald Trump and Ajit Pai of the FCC changed the laws to allow your internet service providers to speed up, slow down, or even block the website you want to use. If they don’t want you to see a site they disagree with, then they will stop you from going there. Or, they will make you wait, so you get bored and go somewhere else.
Or, unless you pay more, your internet will be slowed down. And they think that the US is a free country?
Evan Greer joins The Thom Hartmann Program to discuss how Ajit Pai leaving the FCC could be the start of Net Neutrality returning, how a Biden administration can help save the internet from corporations looking to block their competitor's websites, and how you can help.
Greer is Deputy Director-Fight for the Future, a group of artists, engineers, activists, and technologists who have been behind the largest online protests in human history, channeling Internet outrage into political power to win public interest victories previously thought to be impossible. Fight For the Future is working to build a world where technology liberates — not oppresses — us.
