A series of text messages provided by former Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows exposes the utter insanity of Republicans around the time of the 2020 election and the January 6th Capitol riots. Meadows was in contact with 34 Republican lawmakers during the presidential transition including Congressman Ralph Norman. Norman wrote to Meadows, “Mark, in seeing what’s happening so quickly, and reading about the Dominion law suits attempting to stop any meaningful investigation we are at a point of no return in saving our Republic !! Our LAST HOPE is invoking Marshall Law!! PLEASE URGE TO PRESIDENT TO DO SO!!” Of course, “marshall law” is actually spelled “marital law.” But more to the point, this sentiment is being expressed by someone who pretends to be a small government Constitution-supporting Republican. Instead, many of these Republican lawmakers like Norman were willing to put all of their supposed principles aside if it meant getting Donald Trump back in office.
