Gas prices have trended downward for twenty-two straight days and the people who were blaming Joe Biden for prices at the pump surging are not giving him any credit for prices starting to go back down. The AAA national average for a gallon of gasoline is down to $4.72 after reaching a record high of $5.01 just a few weeks ago. The reason for the decline largely has to do with demand calming down as people don’t want to pay so much for gas and are choosing to forgo driving when they can. Of course, presidents have very little to do with the price of gasoline and these high prices exist all over the world right now, so it was always ridiculous to blame Biden for them. What presidents can do to affect gas prices is release more oil from the strategic petroleum reserve and to institute a gas tax holiday. Even these measures can only save consumers a few dimes per gallon which is why there’s often hesitancy surrounding exploring these options in the first place.
