Dr. Anthony Fauci testified before a Senate committee on the state of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in a hilarious moment he was caught on a hot mic calling a Republican senator a “moron.” Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas put up a chart showing Fauci’s annual salary of $434,312 and asked for public disclosure of his finances and investments. After repeatedly saying that that information is already public knowledge and that Senator Marshall’s office can find it if they want, Chairwoman Patty Murray brought an end to the questioning. Fauci then, perhaps not realizing his microphone was still on or perhaps not caring, whispered “what a moron” followed by “Jesus Christ.” Dr. Fauci was right, and hilariously some of Marshall’s right-wing allies are criticizing Fauci over his lack of decorum despite the fact that they supported Donald Trump, who’s never held back from insulting his political enemies.
