Last weekend, Donald Trump spoke at an Illinois rally in support of Rep. Mary Miller, who has praised Adolf Hitler and celebrated “white life.” Trump appeared completely disoriented and struggled to deliver his remarks. In one particularly noteworthy moment, Trump recited a hateful screed against transgender people, asserting that “no teacher should ever be allowed to teach transgender to our children.” Later, Trump said that the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol is pushing a “fake and fabricated narrative based on a doctored video, lies, and testimony that is totally uncontested by cross-examination.” There seems to be a growing fear among Republicans that the hearings are effective and damaging, which is why they are left to claim that the footage is doctored with no evidence whatsoever.
